Stress, burnout and physical exhaustion have become a way of life for many people. You need to feel that you can get a handle on what stresses you, and diffuse this stress in different ways so as to maintain both your physical and emotional health.
The ways we and others cause stress can come from habits or our own thoughts and feelings about how things are going. Or perhaps your own actions can be adjusted to cause less stress.

# 1. Be organized.
You can plan all you want, but if you cannot find the project, list or information you were to work with, it is pretty stressful.
# 2. Have a To-Do List
Make a list of what you want to accomplish, and then decide which are the most important things to do on that list. Do that first and then go to your less important items.
# 3. Allow for interruptions and changes
If you schedule yourself so tight that you can’t be interrupted for the 15 minutes you spent talking to an unexpected caller, you may find yourself highly stressed. Chill out and realize that there will be some interruptions and you can handle that.
4. Have Realistic Expectations
No one is Superman. You cannot get three days work done in one day. Don’t wait until the last minute and put so much stress on yourself with huge amounts of work.
5. Take Some Time For a Break
It is like changing gears and allows your mind to rest for a few minutes while you do something you enjoy, not something you have to do. Find some time each day to exercise or take a walk. This helps to burn off more stress. Once you are done for the day, take some time to relax. Find hobbies that you enjoy and that reduce your stress.
# 6 Use Common Scents.
Many people relax to their favorite scented candles, but few know that certain scents have a calming effect that may actually reduce stress. Lavender, vanilla and other fragrances that you may find especially soothing may be just the ticket to a stress-free day.
# 7 Just Breathe
There’s an old saying that recommends taking a deep breath and counting to 10 to soothe anger. Well, the same is true with stress. Breathing in rhythm may improve positive emotions as it helps to promote activity in the area of the brain that’s responsible for good thoughts. Positive thinking can lead to happiness, which is one sure way to stop stress.
# 8 Treat Yourself
Whether you’re feeling a little blue or just need a quick pick-me-up, take time to be good to yourself. Have a sip of your favorite beverage, indulge in a light snack to tempt your taste buds or just take a break. When one errand runs into another and days seem to fly by so quickly that we barely even notice them, it may be time to get out of the rut and take a moment to enjoy life by treating yourself to something great.
# 9 – Identify Your Stressors
Making a list of your stressful experiences is useful. Immediately deal with the issues that you can change, for instance waking up earlier for work in the morning, not leaving things till the last minute, and delegating tasks in case you are taking responsibility for everything. Forget about the issues that you cannot influence like being stuck in a traffic jam or not getting into the elevator because there is no room for you.
# 10 – Calm down
A few minutes break would do you good. Wash your face, breath slowly and deeply, and notice if there is tension in any part of your body and release it. You can also listen to relaxing music, or call a friend. Releasing your inner feelings to a friend is a healthy option.
# 11- It will Pass
Remind yourself that the stressful event will end sooner or later can make you see the positive sides of things. At the same time, calm down your emotions and think of what is the best thing to do rather than take your energy away from what needs to be done.
